The Process

In Florida, beer, wine, and spirits hospitality licenses may be obtained in three ways, by lottery, by registration under certain conditions, and by purchase from a current license holder.

Entering the lottery for a liquor license can put a valuable asset in your business for pennies on the dollar.  We understand the process may be a bit challenging, but we are honestly baffled by the number of non liquor license holders or registration holders, that ignore this option year in and year out.  Avoiding the lottery simply because the process can be daunting is a mistake.  We can help.

Registration under an exception can get you the right to sell liquor comparatively quickly, and at a much lower cost than buying a license in the aftermarket.  An example of a registration is the SRX license in Florida which allows certain restaurants of size and conditions to sell alcohol by registration in lieu of license purchase. Similar exemptions apply for hotels, golf or tennis clubs, private clubs, and bottle businesses.

Purchasing a liquor license can be quite expensive. Liquor license availability in Florida is limited. The State of Florida controls the number of full liquor licenses in each County.

Pursuing the wrong license, or pursuing in the wrong manner, can waste time and lead to thousands in needless expenses.

Whether by lottery or registration exemption, we can guide you through the process. If you decide to purchase a liquor license in Florida we can research the potential license to be purchased, negotiate price and terms, draft offers, and draft purchase and sale contracts.

We understand your need to start making money right away because we’re business people. Our attorney’s have actually been in the hospitality business, and acquired liquor licenses in their own name or the name of their corporations.

We can take you through the often challenging process of acquiring a license to sell beer, wine, or spirits in Florida. Florida statutes, and the application process, can lead to time-consuming errors and costly omissions. We will simplify the process significantly for you, saving you time so you can start making money. In some cases temporary licenses may be acquired so you can begin doing business and earning profits even faster.
